Endoscopy

This procedure enables us to visualize the inside of a pet's esophagus, stomach, and small intestine while under general anesthesia. The GI trac is examined with a long flexible tube with a camera on the end and the images are seen on a video monitor. Instruments can be inserted through the camera to obtain small samples of tissue (biopsies) or to retrieve foreign material. Instances where this procedure is recommended may include recurrent acute or chronic vomiting, diarrhea unresponsive to typical medical therapy and or suspected ingestion of foreign bodies.
