Dental care is one of the most neglected aspects of pet health care. A fact that many pet owners may find surprising is that regular dental screenings and oral hygiene can actually increase the lifespan of your pet. All Creatures Animal Care Center believes in preventative dental care and the prevention of tartar buildup. We offer pet owners access to pet dental cleanings, as well as dental radiographs, and oral surgery.
As with people, oral disease in pets begins with bacteria in the mouth that harden and form plaque that adhere to teeth. If not removed through regular care and cleaning, these bacteria will accumulate, harden into tartar, and can lead to the development of periodontal disease. Once periodontal disease is established, the constant exposure to these bacteria can potentially cause damage to major organs of the body such as the heart, liver, and kidneys.
At All Creatures Animal Care Center, we recommend annual dental exams and cleaning in order to prevent the development of periodontal disease and additional health problems. We use ultrasonic scalers to remove tartar and plaque. In the event that your pet has developed a condition that requires further treatment, our veterinarians have received continuing education hours directed towards dental surgery.
